fast tract: Peran Penerapan Metode SPIR Pada Protokol Pemeriksaan MRI Lidah Di RSUD Sanjiwani Gianyar
Abstract
Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) in the oral cavity mostly occured in the two-thirds anterior part of the tongue. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the tongue using contrast media could be used to establish the diagnosis of tongue carcinoma. The Spectral Presaturation Inversion Recovery (SPIR) sequence in MRI was utilized to display detailed images of pathology and anatomy of the oral cavity and its structures, including the tongue and oropharynx. This study aimed to determine the role of applying the SPIR methode in MRI examination of the tongue in cases of carcinoma at RSUD Sanjiwani Gianyar. The research was conducted at RSUD Sanjiwani Gianyar using a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, involving two radiology specialists, two radiographers, and three patients diagnosed with tongue carcinoma. The results of this study were expected that SPIR method played a role in assisting the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue by effectively suppressing fat in the tongue and being compatible with gadolinium contrast agen, thereby displaying the anatomy and pathology of the tongue, oropharynx, and surrounding tissues in detail with good tissue contrast.
