Efektivitas Penurunan Kadar Besi (Fe) pada Air Sumur dengan Filtrasi Serbuk Cangkang Kerang Variasi Diameter Serbuk

Abstract


Iron levels (Fe) in water that exceed the quality standard may cause physical changes in water and induce diseases in humans. One method of reducing iron content (Fe) is by using filtration with powdered seashells as adsorbent. The purpose of this study is to understand the decrease in iron content (Fe) in well water after filtration with powdered seashells 10 mesh, 40 mesh, and 100 mesh. This was an experimental study using Pretest-Posttest Control design. Data were analyzed with One Way ANOVA test. The average results of iron (Fe) before treatment with shell powder fillings of 10 mesh, 40 mesh and 100 mesh were 2.01 mg / L and the average concentration after treatment with shell powder filming of 10 mesh, 40 mesh and 100 mesh the result were 1.64 mg / L, 1.11 mg / L, and 0.49 mg / Lmost effective reduction iron content (Fe) occurred at treatment using filtration of shell powder of shell size 100 mesh that with an average equals to 75.37%. One Way ANOVA test showed resulted in p-value <0.05 meaning that there was significant difference of powder size of 10 mesh, 40 mesh and 100 mesh to in reducing iron content (Fe) in well water.

ABSTRAK

Kadar besi (Fe) dalam air yang melebihi baku mutu dapat menyebabkan perubahan fisik pada air dan beberapa penyakit pada manusia. Salah satu metode yang dapat mengurangi kadar besi (Fe) yaitu menggunakan filtrasi dengan media adsorben dari serbuk cangkang kerang. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui penurunan kadar besi (Fe) dalam air sumur dengan filtrasi serbuk cangkang kerang ukuran 10 mesh, 40 mesh, dan 100 mesh. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan Pretest-Posttest with Control. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji One Way ANOVA. Hasil pemeriksaan rata-rata kadar besi (Fe) sebelum perlakuan dengan filtrasi serbuk cangkang kerang ukuran 10 mesh, 40 mesh dan 100 mesh adalah 2,01 mg/L dan rata-rata sesudah perlakuan dengan filtrasi serbuk cangkang kerang ukuran 10 mesh, 40 mesh dan 100 mesh yaitu sebesar 1,64 mg/L, 1,11 mg/L, dan 0,49 mg/L. Efektifitas penurunan kadar besi (Fe) terjadi pada perlakuan menggunakan filtrasi serbuk cangkang kerang ukuran 100 mesh yaitu dengan rata-rata sebesar 75,37%. Uji One Way ANOVA menunjukkan hasil p<0,05 sehingga terjadi perbedaan yang signifikan ukuran serbuk cangkang kerang 10 mesh, 40 mesh dan 100 mesh terhadap penurunan kadar besi (Fe) pada air sumur.
