Pengaruh Kombinasi Probiotik dan Zinc terhadap Berat Badan Tikus Malnutrisi

Abstract


Background: Single zinc supplementation has shown to be ineffective to reduce the national prevalence of malnutrition. Further research is needed in administration of combined probiotics and zinc supplementation on body weight in malnourished rats. Aim: This study is designed to assess effects of probiotics and zinc co-supplementation on body weight in malnourished rats. Methods: Experimental study with pre-and post-test control group design, 30 rats, aged 8 weeks, weighed 150-200g, were randomly divided into 5 groups. Group K(+), P1, P2, and P3 were given low calorie diet for 14 days to induce malnutrition. On the 15th day, all rats were weighed. The treatment was started on day 15 to 28, K(+) was still given low calorie diet, P1 was given probiotics and zinc combination, P2 was given probiotics, and P3 was given zinc. P1, P2, P3 were given standard diet. On the 29th day all the rats in each group were weighed. Results: Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test with obtained p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05) in all groups. Conclusion: Single or combined supplementation of probiotics and zinc affects the average body weight of malnourished rats.

ABSTRAK

Pendahuluan: Pemberian zinc saja dalam nutrisi tambahan belum mampu menurunkan angka malnutrisi. Pemberian kombinasi probiotik dan zinc perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk melihat efek keduanya di saluran pencernaan dengan melihat berat badan tikus pada tikus malnutrisi. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi probiotik dan zinc terhadap berat badan pada tikus malnutrisi. Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimental dengan rancangan pre and post test control group design, menggunakan 30 ekor tikus, usia 8 minggu, berat badan 150-200 g, dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok secara random. Kelompok K(+), P1, P2, dan P3 diberi pakan rendah kalori selama 14 hari untuk membuat kondisi malnutris, kemudian hari ke-15 semua tikus ditimbang berat badannya. Perlakuan dimulai pada hari ke-15 sampai 28, K(+) tetap diberi pakan rendah kalori, sedangkan P1 diberi kombinasi probiotik dan zinc, P2 diberi probiotik, dan P3 diberi zinc dengan pakan standar, pada hari ke-29 tikus pada semua kelompok ditimbang berat badannya. Perbedaan rerata berat badan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan dianalisis. Berat badan tikus ditimbang menggunakan timbangan digital. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Paired sample t-test, karena distribusi data pada tiap-tiap kelompok normal (p>0,05). Hasil: Uji Paired sample t-test diperoleh p-value = 0,000 (p<0,05) pada semua kelompok. Kesimpulan: pemberian tunggal maupun kombinasi probiotik dan zinc berpengaruh terhadap rerata berat badan tikus malnutrisi
