Pemberian Air Rebusan Daun Sirih Merah untuk Menurunkan Kadar Gula Darah Pasien Diabetes Mellitus
Abstract
Medical experts are the solution in the prevention and treatment of diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of giving boiled red betel leaf water to lower blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus. This study applied a pretest and posttest wirth control group design. The selection of 32 sample members was carried out through purposive sampling, which was then divided into a treatment group given boiled red betel leaf water and a control group. At the pretest stage, random blood sugar measurements were carried out, after which treatment was carried out by giving boiled red betel leaf water to respondents for 1 week, then random blood sugar levels were measured again at the posttest stage. Furthermore, a comparative test of blood sugar levels was carried out between before and after the intervention in both groups, using a paired samples t-test. The results showed that in the control group there was no difference in blood sugar between before and after the intervention (p value = 1.000). In the treatment group there was a difference in blood sugar between before and after the intervention (p value = 0.004). This study concludes that giving boiled red betel leaf water is effective in lowering blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes mellitus.

ABSTRAK
Para ahli medis menjadi solusi dalam pencegahan dan pengobatan penyakit diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pemberian air rebusan daun sirih merah untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah pasien dengan diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini menerapkan rancangan pretest and posttest wirth control group. Pemilihan 32 anggota sampel dilakukan melalui purposive sampling, yang selanjutnya dibagi menjadi kelompok perlakuan yang diberi air rebusan daun sirih merah dan kelompok kontrol. Pada tahap pretest dilakukan pengukuran gula darah sewaktu, setelah itu dilakukan perlakuan dengan pemberian air rebusan daun sirih merah pada responden selama 1 minggu, selanjutnya dilakukan lagi pengukuran kadar gula dawah sewaktu pada tahap posttest. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji perbandingan kadar gula darah antara sebelum dan sesudah intervensi pada kedua kelompok, menggunakan paired samples t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kelompok kontrol tidak ada perbedaan gula darah antara sebelum dan sesudah intervensi (nilai p = 1,000). Pada kelompok perlakuan ada perbedaan gula darah antara sebelum dan sesudah intervensi (nilai p = 0,004). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemberian air rebusan daun sirih merah efektif untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah pasien dengan diabetes melitus.
