Abstract

The spread of the Covid-19 virus did not subside with the third wave spike with the omicron variant. The addition of cases with the latest variant will have an impact on society, especially health workers, one of which is mental health problems that occur in health workers as a result of patients undergoing treatment in hospitals are increasing. The purpose of this study was to describe the mental readiness of health workers when facing the omicron variant of Covid-19 at the East Java Provincial Hospital. This type of research was observational with a sample size of 453 health workers taken by purposive sampling. The research instrument was the Self-Reporting Questionnaire-29 questionnaire for mental health problems. The results of the study illustrated that the mental readiness of health workers could be categorized as follows: experience anxiety with an average of 3.70, psychomatic disorders with an average of 0.31, stress trauma with an average of 1.40. It was concluded that some health workers had poor mental readiness (not ready) to deal with the surge in cases of the omicron variant of Covid-19, so more preparation was needed to deal with the psychological impact that occurred on health workers through further education and training.
