Pilates Exercise untuk Menurunkan Nyeri Penderita Low Back Pain

Abstract


Low back pain is a musculoskeletal problem that is often experienced by all groups, with pain conditions that are often disturbing. Pilates exercise is an alternative way to reduce pain. Thus, a study was needed that aimed to determine the effect of providing Pilates exercise on pain in sufferers of low back pain. This study was a literature review carried out based on the PRISMA protocol, and used the PICO strategy to obtain literature in 4 databases, namely PubMed, ScienceDirect, SagePub and Google Scholar. Articles suitable for identification were obtained from each source, namely Pubmed = 71, ScienceDirect = 1,204, SagePub = 430, and Google Scholar = 51,526. The screening results produced a number of articles, namely Pubmed = 35, ScienceDirect = 68, SagePub = 42, and Google Scholar = 101, and 6 articles were found that could be accessed in full text. After data extraction, the literature used in this review was 3 articles. The results of the literature review showed that 66.67% of relevant articles showed a significant reduction in pain after Pilates exercise in sufferers of low back pain, especially at an exercise frequency of 2 times per week with an average reduction in pain = 2.38, with a p value of between 0.001 to 0.005. Furthermore, it was concluded that Pilates exercise was effective in reducing pain in sufferers of low back pain.

ABSTRAK

 

Low back pain merupakan salah satu masalah muskuloskeletal yang sering dialami oleh semua kalangan, dengan kondisi nyeri yang sering mengganggu. Pilates exercise merupakan salah satu cara alternatif untuk menurunkan nyeri. Dengan demikian diperlukan studi yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek pemberian Pilates exercise terhadap nyeri pada penderita low back pain. Studi ini merupakan literature review dilakukan berdasarkan protokol PRISMA, serta menggunakan strategi PICO untuk mendapatkan literatur pada 4 database, yaitu PubMed, ScienceDirect, SagePub dan Google Scholar. Artikel yang sesuai terhadap identifikasi didapatkan dari masing-masung sumber yaitu Pubmed = 71, ScienceDirect = 1.204, SagePub = 430, dan Google Scholar = 51.526. Hasil screening menghasilkan jumlah artikel yaitu Pubmed = 35, ScienceDirect = 68, SagePub = 42, dan Google Scholar = 101, serta didapatkan 6 artikel yang dapat diakses fulltext. Setelah dilakukan ekstraksi data, literatur yang digunakan dalam tinjauan ini adalah 3 artikel. Hasil dari kajian literatur menunjukkan bahwa 66,67% artikel yang relevan menunjukan adanya penurunan nyeri yang signifikan setelah dilakukan Pilates exercise pada penderita low back pain, terutama pada frekuensi latihan 2 kali per minggu dengan rerata penurunan nyeri = 2,38, dengan nilai p di antara 0,001 sampai 0,005. Selanjutnya disimpulkan bahwa Pilates exercise efektif untuk menurunkan nyeri pada penderita low back pain.
