Pengaruh Ekstrak Rambut Jagung (Zea Mays L) pada Penurunan Kadar Glukosa Darah Mencit dengan Diabetes Melitus
Abstract
Diabetes is on the rise in countries with large populations, with the number of diabetes mellitus sufferers continuing to surge over the past forty years. In Indonesia alone, the number of diabetes cases continued to increase in 2020, reaching 18 million people, increasing the prevalence to 6.2% compared to 11 million cases in 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of corn silk extract in lowering blood glucose levels in mice. This study used an experimental method, with two groups of mice, each consisting of six mice. Group I was induced with corn silk extract and group II was induced with metformin. Next, an analysis was performed using Mann-Whitney to see the difference in average glucose levels in the two groups. The results of the experiment showed a decrease in blood glucose levels in diabetic mice that had been induced with corn silk extract and metformin. After testing the analysis using an independent T-test to see the difference in the average decrease in glucose levels in groups I and II, the P value was 0.083. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no difference in the average between corn silk extract (Zea Mays L) and metformin in lowering blood glucose levels in diabetic mice.

Diabetes meningkat di negara-negara dengan populasi besar angka penderita diabetes melitus terus melonjak dalam empat puluh tahun terakhir. Sedangkan di Indonesia sendiri angka diabetes terus meningkat pada tahun 2020 yang mencapai 18 juta penduduk, meningkatkan prevalensi menjadi 6,2% dibandingkan dengan 11 juta kasus pada tahun 2019. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstak rambut jagung untuk menurunkan kadar glukosa darah pada mencit. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental, dengan memberikan perlakuan pada dua kelompok mencit dengan masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 6 ekor mencit, Kelompok I di induksi dengan ekstrak rambut jangug dan kelompok II di induksi dengan metformin. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis menggunakan mann whitney untuk melihat perbedaan rata-rata kadar glukosa pada 2 kelompok. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan adanya penurunan kadar glukosa darah pada mencit diabetes melitus yang telah di induksi dengan ekstak rambut jagung dan metformin. Setelah di uji analisis menggunakan statistik T Test Independen untuk melihat perbedaan rata-rata penurunan kadar glukosa pada kelompok I dan II dengan hasil P Valuenya adalah 0,083. Dengan demikian bisa disimpulkan tidak ada perbedaan rata-rata antara ekstak rambut jagung (Zea Mays L) dan metformin efektif dalam menurunkan kadar glukosa darah pada model mencit diabetes melitus.
