The Influence of Knowledge and Attitudes on Consumption Behavior Regarding the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program Among Students at State High School 3 in Bima City

Abstract


The Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) is one of the government’s efforts to improve the nutritional status of school-age children by providing free nutritious meals. However, the success of this program is influenced not only by the availability of food but also by students’ knowledge and attitudes toward nutritious eating behaviors. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of knowledge and attitudes on the consumption behavior of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) among students at State Senior High School 3 in Bima City. This is a cross-sectional study. The study population consists of all students at State Senior High School 3 in Bima City, with a sample of 160 students selected using stratified random sampling. Data analysis utilized simple and multiple linear regression tests. The results revealed that 124 students had insufficient knowledge, 102 students exhibited positive attitudes, and 119 students demonstrated good MBG consumption behavior. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and behavior (p = 0.00), a significant relationship between attitude and behavior (p = 0.00), and a significant relationship between knowledge and attitude and behavior (p = 0.00). In conclusion, knowledge and attitude influence the behavior of consuming free nutritious meals (MBG) among students at State High School 3 in Bima City.
