Electrolysis Water Berhasil Menurunkan Skor Edmenton Symptom Assessment Scale (Efek Samping Kemoterapi) pada Pasien Kanker

Abstract

Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide, reaching almost 10 million deaths and the number of new cancer cases reaching 19.3 million in 2020. One of the modalities of cancer therapy that is currently widely used is chemotherapy which can cause psychological and physical side effects. The side effects of chemotherapy felt by cancer patients need attention from oncologist health care providers. The side effects of chemotherapy felt by patients can affect patient compliance in undergoing their treatment, limitations in meeting daily needs due to weakness. Handling the side effects of chemotherapy can be done non-pharmacologically, including by consuming sufficient and quality water. Electrolysis water is one of the water products that has better quality and content than mineral water in general because it is alkaline (PH 8-10), lower ORP, microcluster, and rich in hydrogen (H2) so it is very useful in health therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of electrolysis water on reducing ESAS scores on side effects due to chemotherapy in cancer patients at the Unhas Teaching Hospital. This study was a quasi-experimental study. The respondents in this study were 45 cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy therapy cycle 2 to cycle 6 without any comorbidities. A total of 22 respondents were included in the intervention group and 23 respondents were included in the control group. Primary data were obtained through observation using the ESAS assessment and secondary data were obtained from patient medical records. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the p value was below 0.05, so it was concluded that there was a difference in the side effects of chemotherapy between the intervention group and the control group. Thus, it could be concluded that the administration of electrolysis water has an effect on reducing the side effects of chemotherapy.

ABSTRAK

Kanker merupakan penyebab kematian terbesar di seluruh dunia, yang mencapai hampir 10  juta kematian dan jumlah kasus baru kanker mencapai 19.3 juta pada tahun 2020. Salah satu terapi         modalitas untuk kanker yang banyak dilakukan saat ini adalah kemoterapi yang dapat menimbulkan efek samping secara psikologis dan fisik. Efek samping kemoterapi yang dirasakan pasien kanker perlu mendapat perhatian dari penyedia layanan kesehatan onkolog. Efek samping kemoterapi yang dirasakan pasien dapat mempengaruhi kepatuhan pasien dalam menjalani pengobatannya keterbatasan dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan sehari-hari karena adanya kelemahan. Penanganan efek samping kemoterapi dapat dilakukan secara nonfarmakologi di antaranya dengan mengkomsumsi air yang cukup serta berkualitas. Electrolysis water merupakan  salah satu produk air          yang memiliki kualitas dan kandungan yang lebih baik dibandingkan air mineral pada umumnya hal ini karena bersifat alkali (PH 8-10), ORP lebih rendah, microcluster, dan kaya akan hydrogen (H2) sehingga sangat bermanfaat dalam terapi kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh electrolysis water terhadap penurunan skor ESAS pada efek samping akibat kemoterapi pada pasien kanker di Rumah Sakit Pendidikan Unhas. Penelitian ini merupakan studi quasy experimental. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 45 pasien kanker yang menjalani terapi kemoterapi  siklus 2 sampai siklus 6 tanpa disertai penyakit penyerta. Sejumlah 22 responden masuk dalam kelompok intervensi dan 23 responden masuk dalam kelompok kontrol. Data primer diperoleh melalui observasi dengan menggunakan pengkajian ESAS dan data sekunder didapatkan dari rekam medis pasien. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa nilai p adalah di bawah 0,05, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan efek samping kemoterapi antara kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian electrolysis water berpengaruh terhadap penurunan efek samping kemoterapi.
